Core India Institute of Legal Medicine Pvt. Ltd. (CIILM) is addressing the critical issue of violence in healthcare settings through its innovative Quick Response Service (QRS).  Recognizing the disruptive and traumatic impact of violence on medical professionals, hospital staff, patients, and the overall functioning of healthcare facilities, CIILM has developed a proactive and multi-faceted approach to prevention and response.

Inspired by the successful “Cardiff Model” in the UK, CIILM’s QRS leverages the expertise of retired police officials, under the guidance of former Maharashtra State Director General of Police, Mr. Pravin Dixit, IPS, and the medico-legal expertise of Prof. Dr. Santosh Kakade. Prof. Kakade’s unique background as a General and Orthopaedic Surgeon with advanced legal qualifications (LL. B, LL.M, and Ph.D. in Law) and experience on the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ensures a comprehensive understanding of the legal and medical dimensions of violence in healthcare.  He is supported by teams of retired police officials, advocates, and former judges from Lex Global Advocacy.

The QRS program comprises several key components:

Protocolized Prevention System: Regular monitoring visits by retired police officials, organized by police station area, help identify potential risks and implement preventative measures.

Security Audits:  Retired senior police officials (ACP rank) conduct comprehensive security audits of hospitals, assessing vulnerabilities and recommending improvements to security protocols and infrastructure.

Hospital Employee Training:  Retired police officials conduct training programs for hospital staff on violence prevention, de-escalation techniques, and response procedures. This empowers staff to handle potentially violent situations confidently and effectively.

Mobile Application-Based Quick Response System: A dedicated mobile application facilitates immediate reporting of violent incidents or impending threats, enabling swift response from relevant authorities.

Stakeholder Coordination:  The QRS fosters collaboration between hospitals, police, media, and other stakeholders to develop a coordinated approach to violence prevention and response.

Predictive Technology:  CIILM integrates technology to analyze data and predict potential violence hotspots, enabling proactive interventions and resource allocation.
